- Who can join our choir?
Anyone can join us. All you need is a love of singing.
- Are you a church choir?
No - we hire a room at the Baptist Church for our rehearsals, but we are not run by, or affiliated with, the church.
- Can both men and women join?
Yes, we are a mixed choir and sing in 4 parts - bass, tenor, alto and soprano. - Can I try out the choir before I decide to join?
Yes, in fact your first night at the choir is exactly that. It lets you get a feel for the music, enjoy the atmosphere and get to know some of the other Elation Community Voice family before you decide if you want to join permanently. - Do I have to audition?
No, all you need to do is come along and find out if it's your thing. You have no obligation to come back again and become a member but we find that most people enjoy themselves and choose to keep returning. - Do I need any experience?
No, none at all. Not even if you haven’t sung since childhood. - Do I have to be able to read music?
No, our songs are taught by ear. Sheet music is avaliable for many of them and you may find it an advantage if you can follow along, but it's not essential. - What kind of music do you sing?
We sing a wide range of songs by artists including Adele, Elton John, Sam Smith, Sting, Motown and Beatle Medleys, Gospel and Show Stoppers. - Do I need to know what kind of voice I have?
No, we sing in 4-part harmony and you can try different parts until you find a pitch that suits your voice best. - Does the choir perform to the public?
Yes, we normally perform around 3 times as year- Spring, Summer and Christmas and local events such as Buckby feast. - How many are there in the choir?
We have around 50 regular members with many more dropping in now and again. - How much does Elation Community Voice Choir cost?
Members pay £3 per week on the door. We also sell the music to all members at a subsidised price. There is a hardship fund available to support choir members. - How can I join?
