We are grateful to Andrew Howes for acting as our Musical Director during Nathan's sabbatical. For the past 10 years, Andrew has been the Musical Director for the Cantare Singers. He is also the Deputy Director for Northampton Male Voice Choir.
Andrew will conduct Elation at our concert in July, before Nathan returns to us in the autumn. We were very pleased to be able to present a cheque for £4,500 to Tanya Haji-Miller of Northampton Hope Centre, as a result of our fundraising during 2018.
Tanya had some encouraging news for us about the future of the Hope Centre. They will be able to stay at Oasis House until suitable new premises can be found. For more information, see http://northamptonhopecentre.org.uk/hopes-threatened-eviction/. Elation's members have voted to support the Daventry Dementia Café as our nominated charity for 2019.
DemCafé is run by volunteers who offer tea/coffee with a variety of entertainment, quizzes and games to people living with dementia and their carers. The Daventry and District Memory Café runs from 1-3pm at the Methodist Church, Golding Close, Daventry (opposite the Council Offices) on the second Tuesday and forth Thursday of the month. Tuesdays - March 12, April 9, May 14 and June 11 Thursdays - Feb 28, March 28, April 25 May 23 and June 27. We are planning two concerts this year, both to be held at the Baptist Church on Long Buckby Market Place.
The summer concert, entitled "Songs Through the Decades", will be on Saturday 27th July and our Christmas concert will take place on Saturday 14th December. After a short break over Christmas, we will be starting rehearsals again at 7:30pm on Monday 7th January.
You are welcome to come along - please see our Rehearsals and FAQ pages for more infomation. We hope you enjoyed our Christmas concert at Long Buckby Baptist Church as much as we did.
On 23rd June 2018, we had a very successful concert at Spinney Theatre, our biggest venture yet. Two community choirs, NN10 Community Voices and Elation Community Voices, united in enjoying an evening of entertaining and raising funds for the Northampton Hope Centre.
