There was a lovely atmosphere at our first concert with our new musical director, David Bray, and we hope the audience enjoyed it as much as we did. We were delighted that, thanks to generous donations from the audience, we raised a fantastic £471 for Buckby Library and Hub. "Please pass on our congratulations to the choir for a splendid concert. We really enjoyed it." It has been lovely to see so many of you return to choir and welcome our new musical director, David Bray. We have had some great rehearsals where our technique has been honed and we have tested our memories by learning new songs, without the words!
We will be demonstrating our new skills on Monday 19th December when you can invite friends and family for a short ' concert' at the end of Mondays session at 9pm. This will be the last session before Christmas. Choir will then resume on Monday 9th January. On Monday 14th November we said goodbye and thank you to Nathan Toseland, who is leaving Long Buckby after 10 years as our musical director. Past and present choir members had a lovely time singing along to some favourite songs, followed by a pot luck buffet supper.
The committee is delighted to announce that we have found a new musical director, David Bray. David, a musician who lives in Long Buckby, has lots of experience leading choirs of all kinds and is keen to take us on the next stage of our journey. The committee met with David, after the choir session last Monday, and discussed the direction the choir will go. We are keen to maintain membership and to encourage new members and work towards a performance and singing in the community.
David will start on Monday 28th November when members old and new will be welcome, as well as any new members who would like to join us. The sessions will start at 7.30pm and finish at 9.30pm , with a break in the middle for tea and coffee. The fees will be £3 per week from that point. If anyone has problems covering this cost, please let a member of the committee know as we have funding to help with this. The AGM is on Monday 7th November. We hope to see as many of you there as possible. There will be choir on Monday 21st November led by members of the committee. We look forward to working with David and know that he will be made very welcome. Annual General Meeting
This will be held on Monday 7th November at 7.30pm and will be followed by a normal choir rehearsal. Please come along as we need you there for the meeting to go ahead. New committe members will be elected ready to plan for the future of the choir. We are in the process of finding a new Musical Director, so there will be exciting times ahead . Nathan's Leaving Nathan's final choir session will be on Monday 14th November. We would like as many of you as possible to be there to show our appreciation for all his patience and dedication over the past 10 years. The evening will start with as usual, with singing and end with a 'Pot Luck buffet plate supper'. Please bring along a small plate of finger food to share to have with a cup of tea or coffee. On this evening, we will welcome any members, old or new, to say thank you to Nathan. Just a reminder that there will be no choir on 31st October as the church is booked for a church event.
