The Committee has sadly decided that under the current circumstances and because of the high number of people not happy to come back to choir, that our rehearsals will need to be postponed again. This is until such time that masks are not compulsory within The Church and the Omicron variant and covid is less infectious.
This is with immediate effect so there will be no choir from Monday 10th January until further notice.

We are really pleased to let you know that choir will start again on Monday 22nd November 2021 at 7.30pm.
The doors will open at 7pm on 22nd and you will be able to sign in at the door. We will not be charging subs for the first few weeks that we are back. We are very mindful that Covid is still around and so have put the following precautions in place:
We are really looking forward to seeing everyone again and hope that as many of you as possible are able to come. Following our last committee meeting, (in the flesh for the first time since COVID-19) we’d like to let you know that although we aren’t yet able to get back to singing together, we WILL be having our AGM on Monday 18th October, 7.30 at the Baptist Church. (You may remember we had it via Zoom last year.)
It won’t be a very long meeting but we need to have at least 35% of our membership there to have a quorum.(And it will also be really nice for us all to actually see each other again) Because of this, it would be very useful for us to know whether you are all still wanting to be listed as a member of the ECV choir. We will assume yes……… but please let us know by email if you no longer feel able to attend choir once we get back to singing together. That way we can calculate an accurate quorum number for the AGM. Thank you. We expect to be able to give a start date for our recommencement at the AGM and are thinking that maybe initially we will meet for one hour without a break…..to ease back in…..since so many of us won’t have been doing any singing for about 18 months!! And of course, at the AGM we will be looking for members who would like to be a part of the committee. If you haven’t been on the committee before please consider volunteering for a role. We always welcome new blood, or old hands! The choir can’t function without the help given by committee members and additional helpers for the various jobs that present themselves. So please send us an email to register your willingness to join in. Some of our current committee members are stepping down. We have The Secretary, Assistant Musical Director and 1 x Choir Member posts to fill and hope there will be a few of you who recognise your own skills to take on one of these important roles. Please send us an email telling us which you’d like to volunteer for as soon as possible!! Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on 18th October. Sadly, the Committee had to make the decision to cancel the 2020 concerts. Rehearsals are also suspended until further notice. In a similar vein, our chosen charity for 2020, Long Buckby Library & Hub, will miss out on funds we would have raised this year. We have therefore agreed that we will carry over the charity to 2021 (and any funds raised later in 2020 will be a bonus).
The members of Elation Community Voices have voted to support Buckby Library & Hub as our nominated charity for 2020. Buckby Library & Hub is a community run group formed to keep our library open and provide services and activities to Long Buckby and the surrounding villages. Find out more at buckbylibraryhub.org/
Elation Community Voices were very happy to be able to present a cheque for £3,500 to the Dem Café committee at a recent rehearsal.
Dem Café was the charity that our members chose to support during 2019. Our Christmas concert, "Jingle All The Way", will be held on Saturday 14th December at 7:30pm, at Long Buckby Baptist Church.
Tickets are available from The Peephole, Long Buckby and from Daventry Podiatry Clinic. Adults £7, Concessions £6, Under 16's free (but still need a ticket). Thank you to all the Elation members who worked so hard to prepare for our wonderful summer concert, and a special thank you to our acting musical director, Andrew Howes.
We are taking a break during August, but would love to welcome any new members who would like to come along when rehearsals start again on 2nd September. Our summer concert, "Songs Through the Decades", will be held on Saturday 27th July at 7:30pm, at Long Buckby Baptist Church.
Tickets will be available from The Peephole, Long Buckby and from Daventry Podiatry Clinic. Adults £7, Concessions £6, Under 16's free (but still need a ticket). |
